Knowledge of animal breeds, ability to determine sex and approximate age.
Knowledge of geography of the city.
Knowledge of safety practices concerning the handling of animals.
Ability to prepare and maintain records concerning daily activities.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.
Ability to read a variety of records and forms.
Requires the ability to prepare reports and forms.
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.
Ability to maintain the area clean according to the State Code.
Strong leadership is required for this position.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Example of Duties:
Maintains the animal shelter, office, records, and caring for the animals as according to State Code.
Coordinates intake process of stray and domestic animals.
Administers prescribed medications to animal as directed.
Makes sure that the shelter has all supplies needed.
Supervises cleaning staff and maintains the cleaning of cattery and the dog's area if needed.
Transports the sick animals to vet clinic.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in education preferred.
